Wasteland Defense is the fourth Quest in the New California Republic Arc in Fallout: New California.
Quick Walkthrough[]
Assassinate Raider Leader Elsdragon.
(Optional) Speak to Duville if you wish to side with the mob or opt out of it.
(Optional) Kidnap Elsdragon's daughter Eliza from Black Horse Ranch. This will draw Elsdragon out to Barstow, where you can easily kill him.
(Optional) Speak to Dr. Rossman. He will tell you if there is an alternate path into Athen's-Tec for a direct assault.
Detailed Walkthrough[]
General Silverman will give you the quest to assassinate the Raider Leader Elsdragon. Three optional options will appear in your journal. You can speak to Senator Duville if you wish to side with the mob and kill General Silverman, or you can opt out of it at this time. You can use Elsdragon's daughter, Eliza, to draw Elsdragon out in the open and kill him. You can speak to Dr. Rossman, who will tell you about a cave that may or may not lead into Athen's-Tec.
Speaking with Duville will provide you with map locations and an assurance that Elsdragon will appear if you kidnap Eliza. If you agree to continue with the plan to kill Silverman, there is no turning back.
Speaking to Dr. Rossman in the Altar of the Ghost will net you information that the only way in to Athens-Tec is through the front door. Assemble your army and attack.
If you opt to kidnap Eliza, head to Black Horse Ranch. Raiders guard the area. Defeat them and make your way up to Athens House. Eliza is on the first floor, holding the Mesmetron referenced at Tier 3, Terminal 2. Choosing Medical 10 or ALPHA will result in the same choice: to fix the device with a repair 10 and she'll follow you. Lead Eliza to Barstow.
Once in Barstow, feel free to loot the gun store in preparation for a fight with Elsdragon. After a certain amount of time has passed, Elsdragon will appear via Vertibird outside, along with several raiders. Approach him and initiate dialogue. A skill check of 90 Guns will allow you to shoot him immediately. Suggesting a trade will lead to a Strength check of 8 and a Charisma check of 9 to trade Eliza for Elsdragon. Speak to Eliza to send her on her way with the raiders, and Elsdragon will remain behind. You can shoot him or speak with him. Speaking with him results in a Perception 7 check will see that he's holding a suicide bomb. With Agility 8 or Luck 9, you can escape before he blows up. Or you have the option of not speaking to him at all after he appears, fight, and kill him and his raiders.
Once Elsdragon is dead, return to either Silverman or Duville. If you sided with Silverman, kill Duville. If you sided with Duvill, Kill Silverman. This will end the quest.
