Nova Star is a powerful private military and prospecting corporation in the New California Republic.

Founded and owned by wealthy Shi businessman Che Bo Kin following the integration of San Francisco into the NCR, Nova Star is one of the most powerful private interests in the Republic, nearly matching the Crimson Caravan and Gun Runners in influence.[1]
Nova Star is well known for its unethical mercenary and prospecting work, particularly its contract in the Cajon Pass in the 2250s to secure and salvage Vault 18. This brought them in conflict with the Vault's Wasteland Scouts, as well as the Exodite California Tribe, so to pressure both the current and former Vault dwellers into surrendering the Vault's location, Nova Star poisoned the California Tribe's water supply with a barrel of FEV and later infected Dr. Miyaki Kyoto with the same strain of the virus via an infected glove. They captured Kevin Rossman and Dale Norman and attempted to use a Mesmetron to force them to surrender the Vault's location, but Kyoto helped her friends escape, and managed to lure the Nova Star mercenaries into a canyon, where she used an orbital satellite weapon to kill them. For this act of self-defense, the Wasteland Scouts were charged as terrorists for killing NCR citizens and denying access to "government property" - their Vault. Despite this, many NCR officials such as William Silverman consider Nova Star fully deserving of their fate and remain sympathetic to the Wasteland Scouts even two decades later.[2]
Doc Isaak's first murder victim in Odyssey was a Nova Star mercenary.[3]

- The Romanov clan, which leads the Botniks, was originally the technology specialist branch of Nova Star, acting as its technology specialist branch. Design documents for Ben Kurtz's companion quest, intended for the currently hypothetical 1.0 companion update, reveal that the Romanovs were dispatched on a mission to the Pass but suffered heavy casualties from attacks by tribal warriors (including Kurtz) and were abandoned by Che Bo Kin, ultimately leading them to join the Raider Alliance.
