The Necro-Nation, also known as the Necro Tribe or the Necros, was a nomadic society of ghoul raiders formed by survivors of the Unity's attack on Necropolis that was ostensibly incorporated into the Raider Alliance.
History[]
The Necro-Nation's ghouls originally lived in the ruins of Bakersfield, California, being residents of Vault 12 who became ghouls due to the vault door improperly sealing and allowing in radiation. When the Master's army attacked Necropolis in retaliation for the actions of the Vault Dweller, a number of ghouls survived the massacre and settled into communities such as Gecko and Dayglow. One group of refugees, however, adopted a raider lifestyle and preyed on small frontier communities, using imprisoned feral ghouls to swarm and destroy the inhabitants. Many badly wounded and deformed, buried in the sands near Bakersfield and exposed to high levels of mutagenic radiation, their leaders were said to have become little more than glowing piles of flesh. The so-called Necro-Nation became feared for their horrendous tactics, sending in swarms of ferals into peaceful villages to tear apart innocents, and dragging their armies of deranged kin behind them on chains.[1] However, their vicious tactics and preference for radiation-contaminated areas led their own minds to degenerate, with the oldest of the Necros being little more than ferals themselves.
Eventually, their reputation and declining numbers led them to be purged by the NCR and other wastelanders, with the few survivors joining the Survivalists, preferring the radioactive depths of Athens-Tec Mine, and with the oldest and most degenerated members in fact being locked up in its depths. However, they too eventually degenerated into mindless ferals thanks to the radiation within the mines,[1] which came in no small part from a nuclear warhead placed by Enclave Squad Leonidas as insurance against the raiders which was later dismantled by scavengers.[2] The feral inhabitants of the deep mines became a long-time terror upon the Voiceless, preying on them, and were simply ignored and sealed away by the Survivalists.
As of 2260, the Necros are little more than boogeymen, and Beuford Duffney is the only known remaining sane former Necro.[1] Other dubiously-sane members of the Necros can be encountered in the western regions of the Pass, with several members and a large number of ferals at the Necro Tribe camp east of the Euripides Power Relay Station apparently attempting to spread the Mind Virus, while a feral warboss can be found in the mountains near Angel Breakers "commanding" another group of ferals.

While little is known about the structure of the Necro-Nation, they seem to worship or follow some sort of dark Lovecraftian deity.
