Boss Maxson was an exiled elder of the Brotherhood of Steel and one of the last surviving members of the lineage of Roger Maxson, the organization's founder.
Background[]
Maxson was a relative of Roger Maxson, the founder and High Elder of the Brotherhood of Steel. As a member of the Maxson dynasty, he held a position on the Council of Elders simply by his bloodline, but in the early 2220s was exiled from the Brotherhood for unknown crimes - though many in the Brotherhood followed him, out of nothing more than dedication to and worship of the Maxson lineage. He would eventually join the Survivalist Raiders of the Cajon Pass via unknown circumstances and married the future "Queen" Elsdragon, siring a single son, Juan.
Using his stockpile of Brotherhood weaponry and knowledge, Maxson transformed the already-imperialistic Survivalists into one of the most powerful factions in New California, absorbing the remnants of the Vipers as well as the Psycho tribes that occupied the Pass. He terrorized the Exodite tribes from Vault 18 as well as NCR expeditions and caravans travelling the Pass, including kidnapping an expedition of students from NCR University in the 2240s. Maxson would on numerous occasions come in conflict with Vault 18's Wasteland Scouts, culminating in his death at the hands of his "arch-nemesis" Kevin Rossman in 2242, crushed when Rossman detonated the Survivalists' biofuel reserves and collapsed part of Athens-Tec Mine's lower caverns. His death would throw the Alliance into chaos, only tenuously held together by the intervention of the Vipers, until his wife declared herself "Queen Elsdragon" and ruled until the Alliance was taken over by their young adult son, Juan Maxson-Elsdragon.
