Marina Del Rey is a ruined pre-War seaside resort town in the Boneyard.
Background[]
Much like Santa Monica to the north, prior to the Great War, the town was a famous resort community in northern Los Angeles, famed for its huge marina. After the war, many of the boats docked in this marina were thrown inland, yet many of the wrecks remained salvageable.
This proved useful to the Vault 5 raiders as they emerged from their vault. They were able to repair hundreds of the vessels to working order, including one with a working radio array. They escaped into the Pacific Ocean as the New California Republic forces rolled into the Boneyard, rechristening themselves the Pirate Raider Legion. The armada of pirates would take advantage of their unassailable position in the bay to raid NCR coastal interests with impunity, as the NCR lacked any form of a naval force. By 2260, while nominally under NCR control from the nearby base at the former Los Angeles International Airport, Marina Del Rey is subjected to near-continuous raids from the Vault 5 raider forces and their leader, Terror Max.
