Johnny Matheson is a resident of Vault 18 and a possible permanent companion in Fallout: New California.

History[]

Johnny Matheson is a proud member of the Vault Barbarians Vault Ball team. Like the Star Player, he was born in the wastes and adopted into the vault by the Wasteland Scouts. He has a history of drug abuse and uses Psycho, Jet, and Med-X often enough for it to pose a major threat to his health.

Interactions With The Player Character[]

Johnny is a possible companion to players following the Path of the Warrior, but is unobtainable without outside mods if following the Path of the Scientist.

No Hard Feelings[]

Johnny's companion recruitment quest is only available to players on the Path of the Warrior, the quest involves talking to him and apologising about breaking his leg in the Vault Ball game where the player chooses their path. If the player is on the Path of the Scientist, the quest will not start but you can still talk to Johhny about how he broke your leg.

There's A Fixer For That[]

After recruiting Johnny and leaving the vault, the player is taken to Black Bear Lodge where Johnny will fall on the floor and pass out, interacting with him will give the player a message saying that he needs Fixer in 2 hours or he will die, starting the quest. The quest points the player towards the Pinehaven Hospital to get 2 doses of Fixer to heal Johnny so he can continue as a companion past the Prologue.

New Vegas[]

He can be found in the Casa Madrid Apartments.

Alternatively, he can be found in Goodsprings instead of Jenn Hail if the Star Player became a Raider.
