Permanent companions[]

These companions, once recruited, will be available for the rest of the gameplay duration of New California, provided they are not fired or removed through quests. They are all also, with the exception of Biscuit, potentially available as companions in the Mojave Wasteland after completing the main story of New California and starting New Vegas.

Jamie Campbell is intended to be replaced by Dakota Ferron in the 1.0 update of New California. However, a timeline on this update is unknown.

Eric Campbell A young prospective Wasteland Scout, in a highly-stigmatized relationship with his adoptive sister. Both
Jamie Campbell A young and mechanically-gifted Vault Ball player in a highly-stigmatized relationship with her adoptive brother. Intended to be replaced by Dakota Ferron. Both
Jenn Hail The young and shy daughter of legendary Wasteland Scout Yetti Hail, adept at thievery and stealth. Both
Kira Mann An eccentric and brilliant young Vault computer engineer, obsessed with saving her lost tribal parents. Both
Johnny Matheson A hulking and aggressive Vault Ball player with a crippling chem addiction. Path of the Warrior

Temporary companions[]

These companions will temporarily follow the Star Player during a certain quest or interaction and will not be available afterwards.

John "Diesel" Anderson A young resident of Vault 18 and member of the Vault Patriots. During the time between Hell To Pay and Save The Vault.
Ranger Barney A Desert Ranger.
Ranger Hideko A Desert Ranger.
Jarl Hrafnkel Corvis The warlord of the Vault Vikings. During Battle in the Deep.
Rey Guerrero The leader of a New California Republic mercenary crew. Can be hired during Journey To The Deep and Destroy Fort Daggerpoint.
Captain Less Jameson A soldier in the NCR Army. During Journey To The Deep.
Ranger Jeff A Desert Ranger.
Kez A mercenary under Rey Guerrero. Can be hired during Destroy Fort Daggerpoint.
Ranger Lewis A Desert Ranger.
Mandrake A hunter nightkin and member of the Unity. Can potentially follow from the end of Hell's Gate to beginning of Join The War Machine, and potentially during Destroy Fort Daggerpoint if previously spared.
Doc Marius A "technowizard" formerly affiliated to the Brotherhood of Steel. Can be hired for the mission to the Altar of the Ghost during A More Perfect Union.
Mark A mercenary under Rey Guerrero. Can be hired during Destroy Fort Daggerpoint.
Ranger Martin A Desert Ranger.
Mogoui A mercenary under Rey Guerrero. Can be hired during Journey To The Deep.
Morales A soldier in the NCR Army.
Ranger Ollie A Desert Ranger.
Annai Oran A mysterious mercenary independently working in the NCR. Can be recruited during Journey to the Deep and Destroy Fort Daggerpoint.
Jerri Oran A mysterious mercenary accompanying Annai.
The Father The leader of the Unity. If convinced to fight the Braggs during Destroy Fort Daggerpoint.
Quisha A mercenary under Rey Guerrero. Can be hired during Journey To The Deep.
Earnest Schwartz A young technically-minded (and creepy) resident of Vault 18. If convinced during Save The Vault.
Ranger Kerry Vargas An experienced Desert Ranger from Texas. During Bridge Over I-15.
