I do what I am told by my masters. But if you must know, I maintain these: The terminals of the thunder gods! And keep their knowledge.— Casio Aralias to the Star Player

Casio Aralias is a slave of the Raider Alliance in 2260.

Background[]

Casio hails from a tribe of skilled "technomancers" in Arizona,[1] which was later conquered by soldiers of Caesar's Legion under the command of Gaius Diocletian, and pressed into service in the Legion.[2][3] Diocletian eventually sold Casio to Juan Maxson-Elsdragon,[4] who put him to work maintaining and repairing technology for the Raider Alliance. He is trusted so much that he is in charge of duties such as controlling the explosive collars of the Alliance's slaves.[5]

Casio treats technology with godlike reverence, calling his repair tent in Athens-Tec Mine the "Temple to the Thundergods," in reverence of the "Blue Smoke," "Thunder Gods," and "Lightning Gods" which supposedly make his terminals operational. In actuality, his terminals are RobCo models, as well as a microwave transmitter array, knowledge of which he expressed to be the "magic of Jove".[6] His time in Caesar's Legion has also left him with a reverence of Mars, though his idol of Mars was confiscated by the raiders.[3]

As of November 2260 he has met his match in the form of a virus uploaded by Enclave Squad Leonidas agents before their purge by the raiders, which has left him unable to control the slave collars.[7] However, currently no one is aware of this turn of events, and he intends to keep it that way.[5]

Interactions with the player character[]

The Star Player can meet Casio Aralias after Hell's Gate. He stands in front of the Temple to the Thundergods.

Quests[]

Cards Under the Table: Casio's help is needed to disable the Star Player's and/or their companions' slave collars. With Nerd Super Star, Smart Jock, or Charisma 7+, he will agree with the condition of a favor in return: his old master Gaius Diocletian is visiting, and Casio wants Diocletian's Mars idol before he will grant access to the slave collar control terminal. With Vault Tech 2, he can be convinced to immediately allow the player to access his terminal.

Other interactions[]

  • Casio is a merchant, selling various energy weapons, ammunition, and scrap parts, as well as a pair of scientist goggles.
  • If one escaped through Cards Under the Table and returns to Athens-Tec Mine and speaks to Casio (likely as part of The Revanchist, he will recognize them and warn them to leave, but not reveal them as an escapee. He will also express his thoughts if Elsdragon is overthrown and replaced with Kieva Nanjima.

References[]

  1. The Star Player: "Cool name. Where are you from?"
    Casio Aralias: "Arizona."
  2. The Star Player: "[Intelligence 7+] You worship the Roman god of war?"
Casio Aralias: "[SUCCESS] Indeed. I am from the Legion of Caesar. Mars is my god. I am surprised you know his name. If you can fetch for me this idol, maybe I will give you such respect in return."
  3. 3.0 3.1 Star Player: "Cool. Let's talk shop, Casio. I want something. I'm sure there's something you want too."
Casio Aralias: "Nothing that I am not provided by Mars, my god, or the masters whom I serve. Though... Your petty desires come at a fortunate time. There is a centurion by the fire. He is from my home country. A conqueror of my tribe. He worships Mars as I do, but the raiders took my idol from me. I covet his. It is not for a slave to ask a master for his blessing... But you, foolish new slave, you do not seem to be beyond such rudeness."
  4. Star Player: "From that guy."
Gaius Diocletian: "Casio? I sold him to Elsdragon years ago. He still obsessed with his mystic computer junk? Then take it. It is my god and I am a son of war. This is my pride. May Mars guide you to my enemy's throat."
  5. 5.0 5.1 Star Player: "Wait, so you're telling me that the collars don't even work?"
Casio Aralias: "No. I can no longer command the magic of the air. You will keep this secret, or die. As long as the slaves fear the collars, they will not run. Heed my words, low one. Take your chance to flee these lands, so I may not have to endure your heresy any longer."
  6. The Star Player: "[Vault Tech 2] Nice. Old Robco models. And a microwave transmitter array?"
Casio Aralias: "You know of the magic of Jove? As do I. You may be of some use to me. There is a code in the language of the Lightning Gods that I do not know. When the Enclave were here, they cursed the machine, and it cannot be restored by my own magic. If you know of it, you may restore its power."
  7. Star Player: "What? Really? I thought you were the great keeper of the Thunder Gods!"
Casio Aralias: "You persist in your attempts at humor. It is a secret my masters do not yet know. The Enclave witches placed a curse upon the shrine, and it has forsaken my touch. It speaks to me in a tongue of garbled words, phrases of the world before which I cannot comprehend. The gods bid me to choose from the random offerings, or else they will banish me from their realm forever. This is a sacred confidence I bestow upon you. Truth, in my profession, is a prize greater than currency."
