B-6-RK is a custom-built "roboto" dog in Vault 18. She is one of two potential robot companions in Fallout: New California.
Background[]
B-6-RK was created by Dr. Miyaki Kyoto, a young member of the Wasteland Scouts, as an "adventure buddy" out of her wish for a pet in a vault which had none, and accompanied Kyoto on many of the Scouts' missions. In 2253, during the Scouts' conflict with the NCR prospector company Nova Star, B-6-RK saved Kyoto from death by dragging her back to Vault 18, but was critically damaged. Kyoto, knowing she was infected with the Mind Virus, isolated herself in Vault 18's robotics lab to quarantine the virus and repair her fallen friend. She was unable to do so before her death. However, Kyoto left a final message on the terminal next to B-6-RK's repair platform, asking future Scouts or roboticists to take care of her companion.
Interactions with the Player Character[]
Fallout: New California[]
On the Path of the Scientist, B-6-RK can be retrieved through Wait, We Have Robots? This quest can be started during Fix The Old Computer by talking to Dr. Rossman and asking him for other tasks. Rossman will direct the player character to the Robotics Lab by handing over the key to the main elevator.
On the Path of the Warrior, B-6-RK can be retrieved by gaining access to the Upper Level through Pipe Quest. This quest can be started by refusing to join the Enclave Patriots or Vault 18 Security, or otherwise failing to do so. Coach Bragg will redirect the player character to Chevy Bragg, who will hand over the Vault 18 Elevator Key and direct the player character to seek Joe Marshall.
Quests[]
- Wait, We Have Robots?: Repairing B-6-RK through Domo Arigato is one of the two objectives given in this overarching quest.
- Domo Arigato: B-6-RK can be found in an inactive state in the Robotics Lab, next to two inactive eyebots and a terminal. She requires 30 Repair or a Droid Radio Unit to restore to working order. The Droid Radio Unit can be found in the right-hand storage room of the Upper Level, jury-rigged into a radio signal booster by Joe Marshall, and taken with no consequence. After she is repaired, the Easy-level terminal next to B-6-RK must be hacked, and the three command lines on the terminal run. Bark will reboot but cannot be recruited until returning to the Robotics Lab while exiting Vault 18. At that point, if B-6-RK was restored, she will be waiting and can be asked to follow as a companion.
Other interactions[]
- If one was captured by the Raider Alliance and had B-6-RK as a follower, she will be found once again broken in the Temple to the Thundergods. She must be repaired with a minimum of 60 Repair, 80 Science, 2 scrap electronics, and 3 scrap metal in order to restore her as a companion. She can then be taken as a continued companion regardless of which questline is followed.
- If dismissed, B-6-RK will return to Black Bear Lodge.
Fallout: New Vegas[]
If B-6-RK was brought as a companion to the final battle at Fort Daggerpoint, then she can be found in the junk piles at the Gibson scrap yard, but must be purchased from Old Lady Gibson (by buying the misc item "robot dog - scrapped") before she can be repaired. Once it is bought, the player character will need of 80 Repair, 100 Science, 2 scrap electronics, and 3 scrap metal in order to make B-6-RK working again.
Once repaired and hired, B-6-RK will function as a companion again, identically to how it did in New California. If dismissed, it will return to the scrap yard unless a different location is set as its home point. Alternatively, she can be sent to the Lucky 38 presidential suite if it is unlocked.
Notes[]
B-6-RK's voice is that of her creator Dr. Kyoto.
